Our travels – mostly in the Dry winter seasons – have been spread over more than twenty years and have ambled from the farthest possible points east and west of the continent to the farthest points north. They have taken in the top of Cape York Peninsula and some of the Torres Islands beyond it, the wallaby’s ear of western pindan country called Dampier Land, the islands along the coast of Arnhem Land, the hidden waters of the Roper River near the Gulf of Carpentaria, various remote settlements and missions, mining outposts and cattle stations hundreds of miles east and west of Alice Springs.”
