“In Brothers in the Sun the Reverend Paul Webb recounts tall stories, short stories, happy stories, and sad stories to link together three-quarters of a century of the work of the members of the Bush Brotherhood in their native habitat – the Australian bush.  Here is the fascinating story of the Bush Brotherhood movement, which began as an Anglican mission to the far west of Central Queensland in 1897 and then spread into four states – New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia.  It is a movement that has provided the Church with eighteen bishops.
In floods and droughts Bush Brothers have travelled by bicycle and motor bike, by sulky and packhorse, by car and truck, by plane and on foot to minister to shearers, stockmen, timber cutters, miners, Aborigines, swaggies, and the ‘hermits’ of the bush who, tucked away in half-forgotten hideaways, have often had no other visitor than a Bush Brother.”
