“From a geographical point of view the Great Barrier Reef is one of the most remarkable features of the Australian Continent.  Built probably on a foundering coastline it extends for a distance of nearly 1,200 miles and is the largest deposit of coral in the world.  Dangerous to shipping except for a few well-known and well-chartered passages is recognised to-day as one of the most fascinating and colourful scenic areas in the world.
Apart from its many beautiful coral islands and reefs, however, its chief attraction for visitors and tourists lies in the bewildering variety and amazing novelty of its teeming marine life, and it is this aspect of “The Great Barrier” that has been selected for the series of 50 picture plates that are now being offered by The Sanitarium Health Food Company for inclusion in the following pages of this album.  Beautifully coloured and fully authoritative, the saving of these pictures should prove of great interest to the younger folk and at the same time form a unique educational medium fully descriptive of this great Australian wonderland.”
