"A Little Bush Maid is the story of 12-year old Norah Linton set on the large and prosperous cattle station called “Billabong” in country Victoria in the early 1900’s, covering her life with her widowed father and doting station hands with lots of adventures and surprises, especially when her brother Jim is home on holiday from boarding school with his friend Wally.  The story is told in simple straightforward fashion, infused with good humour and compassion.

Mates at Billabong. Norah is now 14.  She, Jim and Wally do their best to put up with Cecil, the supercilious 19 year-old cousin from town who has come to stay at Billabong for the Christmas holidays.  He tries to show off to his Bush relatives with his disdainful city airs but the results are invariably disastrous and highly amusing until he does the unforgivable and takes Norah’s much-loved pony for a wild ride."
