“The purpose of this book is to make available to teachers material for rapid reading, reproduction, comprehension and oral work. Being in anecdote form, the passages can be used to fill up the few minutes at the end of a class or as a break in between two periods of more difficult study.
In offering this collection of stories, no claim is made for their originality, and most teachers will already know a large number of them. As a rule, however, this type of anecdote, although supplying ideal material for rapid oral work, is written in French which is too difficult for the beginner. In rewriting them in simple language, the grammar difficulties have been kept to the minimum so that fluency is not impaired.”
