"Here is the story of Linda Ferrers, a London factory hand and shop assistant, and how she came to cross the Atlantic to marry.
Linda was good, pretty and highly sensitive.  he was disturbed when some Americans accidentally visited her East End home, just as she was making up her mind to marry a fellow worker, Syd Everad.  One of the Americans, Henry Meaker, called again: and Linda's sister Ethel was overwhelmed by him.  The party at dreamlike Accra Cottage disturbed Linda even more, and so did the night out in the West End with Henry Meaker and Joe Pietowski, which ended with Linda and Ethol waking up in a bedroom near Kin's Cross. But another American was on the scene.  Mark Holman, from Colorado, whose approach was quieter.  it was not surprising that Linda's engagement was short-lived."
