“This work was first published by Culpeper with Peter Cole under the title of ‘The English Physician: enlarged with 369 medicines made of English Herbs’. Our edition is a true facsimile of the 1826 edition of this famous work. It contains information on how to preserve one’s health and cure common ailments by the use of herbs easily available.
The herbs and their uses are presented in alphabetical order, and are illustrated with 200 hand-coloured drawings which are exquisitely reproduced. There follows an explanation of the temperaments of the herbs, directions for making syrups and ointments, a separate discussion of herbal medicines and their appliances, Culpeper’s selected aphorisms and recipes, plus and addenda of additional herbs.
A biography of Nicholas Culpeper, plus a complete list of his works, have been added”
