“This exhibition, restricted as it is to the holdings of Flinders University, can only offer partial insights, but while as is right and proper for NADOC Week in Adelaide, it has a major input from Aboriginal artists in general and those from South Australia in particular, we hope that the contemporary art of Inuit, African and Papua New Guinea artists will strike familiar chords. A number of previous and more limited displays from the holdings of the Flinders Art Museum have been shown under the title of Old Messages, New Media. Here, subject matter apart, the linking theme is that all work is new and the media used not those traditional to the societies producing it.”
