“Hans Habe is European by birth, education, and outlook, although he is an American citizen.  After his trip to the U.S.A. on a journalistic assignment at the time of President Kennedy’s assassination, he wrote Anatomy of Hatred, a critical assessment of the contemporary problems of the United States which were thrown even more violently into the public eye by this tragedy.  The topics with which he deals and he searching questions he poses are of the utmost importance – not only to the United States but to the whole world.
Hans Habe discusses his beliefs as far as the political implications of the assassination go: and thence moves to the colour bar controversy.  Habe believes it to be an insoluble problem, for the negroes are seeking love and not equal rights; and love cannot be cold-bloodedly “integrated”.  And there is not only disunity among the races: the United States themselves are, in some cases, at loggerheads with each other.  Can this dictatorship of overweening provincial big-shots be smashed?  In the world’s richest country a fifth of the population lives in miserable poverty.  Can this poverty be overcome?”
