This Ancient Clan claims descent from Pictish Royal House of Maceth.  The Clan held lands in Strathnaver and Sutherland and fought in many battles in Europe in the 16th and 17th Centuries.  The Chiefship is vested in the Lords Reay who also hold the title Barons Van Ophemert in Holland."
