"This report is in the form of an annotated list that describes the current and historical status, distribution and abundance of all birds thus far recorded on Kangaroo Island.  All available published literature has been researched, commencing with the first R.A.O.U. campout at Middle River in 1905 through to the present (1988).  Most of the more recent information is from unpublished material, contributed by local ornithologist and longtime Kangaroo Island resident, Mr Allen Lashmar and from my own observations during the period December 1978 to October 1988."
