'Publishers Note: Two editions of this Narrative were printed in 1789 in London: With 44 pages and a frontispiece by W. Bailey ... A Scottish edition was printed in 1789 in Aberdeen for Alexander Keith which contained 40 pages and a crudely engraved illustration as a frontispiece.
The Title page and illustrations from both the Aberdeen edition and the London (Bailey) edition have been reproduced in this edition. The Preface from the Bailey edition has also been reproduced. The text from the Bailey edition has been reset exactly as it appears in the original which was too poor to reproduce in facsimile.'
