Andy Warhol (1930-1987) revolutionised attitudes to art and the individual artist. Warhol was a critical observer of American society, and in works such as the Campbell's Soup or Brillo series he exposed American consumerism and his countrymen's obsession with sensational journalism. In 1963 Warhol founded his Factory in New York, an artistic thinktank that influenced films in the 1960s, published the important magazine Interview from the end of the 70s, and produced Warhol's own works."
