“Both the ‘Bleasdale’ books have been written by family members, descendants of Frank Potts I who founded the property of Bleasdale at Langhorne Creek. Today Bleasdale represents only one segment of the family and the existing generations of his descendants are now spread far and wide.
In October, 1986, many of the family members came together for the first family reunion, gathering to renew acquaintances and celebrate the pioneering spirit of their common ancestor.
The reunion and the printing of this book both commemorate the 150th anniversary of Frank Potts I’s arrival In South Australia. He came in 1836 in H.M.S. Buffalo, the ship which brought the first Governor to found the new colony, and so we share this anniversary with South Australian’s Jubilee 150 celebrations.”
