“This story has been written to celebrate the lives of those many intrepid adventurers and dreamers, who lived in the very harsh environment of the desert in Andamooka. They experienced the harshest conditions you could imagine; firstly, living in home-made rough stone and mud shacks, with hessian linings. There was no electricity or water available for many years. On top of that they had to endure the dust flies and heat, whilst raising their families, without any modern facilities. Many failed to make a living, but others made fortunes. Some still live there and would not call any other place home. To those who persevered – Well done.”
