These first words of the loading sequence for  a Vickers gun make an appropriate title for this novel of the Syrian campaign of World War II and the subsequent occupation of Syria and the Lebanon.  Colin, Hector, Davey Redman, Grogger, and dozens of other men from Drought Foal and Wedgetail View move through the battlefields, the villages, the mountains and the ancient cities of the land and the reader is taken along with them in Stuart's vivid prose.  A dour campaign is brought alive from the viewpoint of the men who toiled and fought against the Vichy French in 1941.
