“The stories in this book are a mix of written and oral work.  Some members elected to write their own histories, whilst others preferred to dictate them onto a tape for transcription by the editor.
Except where obviously essential, there deliberately has been no attempt to edit material in regards to style and phrasing in order to preserve the integrity of the individual stories, to maintain the variety of textures inherent when a number of people gather to tell their trials, tribulations and triumphs.  I believe that each person’s personality has been maintained in each story.  If you notice a ‘gender bias in this book it stems from the fact that the membership of U3A Darwin is predominantly female.”
