“This booklet is intended for use in the field as a guide to tree identification. With its use any interested person may quickly learn to identify most trees found in Tasmania. Positive field identification of eucalypts is not simple, however, and usually several tree characteristics must be examined. Often a eucalypt of widespread occurrence will exhibit differences in botanical features, and even in habitat. Natural hybrids may form between related species. These variations all add to the difficulty of positively identifying a particular tree.”
