"After nearly forty years observing Demi-Paradise from Australia I decide to take a closer look. I find England, Sick. Healthy. Permissive. Square. Hairy. Bald. Randy. Lucky and nothing like so morally threadbare as I am.
Over the years "Tears in the Fridge" has taken on multifarious shapes and the 'Sick' (i.e. Healthy) bits - all written long before Portnoy - have through the years been grabbed by publishers on the grounds that, "I didn't behave that way and neither do my children"
IN 1972, faced with high taxation, I decided it would be more fun to lose money publishing this book than to coldly squander the same amount of cash on income tax. I may not lose, all the same reader, you'd best borrow the book rather than buy it, otherwise I won't be able to get my old age pension.
