“Coolaroo was a tiny kangaroo, and he and his parents belonged to a “mob” or band of kangaroos living in the bush of southern Australia. Coolaroo’s father was a leader of the mob, and as Coolaroo grew into a strong (and sometimes rather uppish) young joey his great ambition was to become a leader too. So, as all prospective leaders must, he took to the bush and the grasslands alone, to learn about their life, their secrets and their dangers. He met creatures friendly to the mob, and he skirmished with some enemies, until at last, after an absence of several years, he rejoined the mob and became the finest leader they had ever known.”
