“This volume of essays, interviews, reports and artist’s documentation has come together over three years.  The initial idea for the book was generated by a trip to California in 1981.  On that tour feminist artists were sought out for interviews regarding performance and political art events.  Our aim was to generate a cultural exchange within the alternative artworld.  We intended to do this by publishing Australian and American work within the same volume thus establishing a comparative model where readers could follow similar concerns in both countries.”
