“Operation Lily-Liver is a very funny shadow play. Poor Lionel Lily-Liver has had a cold for three days. His mother thinks that’s too long so she takes him to hospital where he is immediately operated on by a team of dangerous doctors. You’ll shudder and squeal as the doctors go to work on their reluctant patient with hammers and saws. Can Dr Failes, Dr Gung-Ho, Dr Tremblebath and Dr Clunkett save Lionel? Can anyone save Lionel from the doctors? In a shadow play most of the action takes place behind a transparent screen, with lighting being used to create clear silhouettes. Sound effects also play a major part in the success of the production.”
