"It all began with the parcel from America which contained a party frock for Selina. It was a beautiful frock, but when could one wear a cream organdie dress in a village in wartime? The Andrews family determined to find an opportunity for Selina to use her present. They went into committee and finally hit upon the idea of the Pageant.
How their plan grew from being a small affair with only a few neighbours to a great theatrical production involving half the villagers, horses, ballet dancers and jeeps, makes a fast-moving exciting and thoroughly satisfying story."
