“The preceding edition of this book concluded with an exposition of a theory of twelve-tone tonality, written in collaboration with Pal Lansky. This is omitted from the present edition, as it has been superseded on Mr. Lansky’s part by his doctoral dissertation, Affine Music (Princeton University, 1973), and on my part by the monograph, Twelve-Tone Tonality. The latter is being published separately, concurrently with the present volume, by the University of Canberra Press.”
