“Here is a modest and very well-written account of what can, without exaggeration, be called the most successful and significant small scale military operation of modern times. It is believed by persons able to judge that if the Germans could have kept themselves adequately supplied with heavy water they might easily have produced the atomic bomb before the Allies. That they ran fatally short of such supplies was solely the result of two attacks led by Captain Haukelid on the German heavy water installations at Rjukan in Norway.”
