“The stretch of the great Mississippi river near Tom Sawyer’s home with its river boats and rafts, its swimming places and a long narrow island in mid-stream, seems to be specially designed for games, adventure and fun. Tom and his schoolmate Joe with their disreputable friend Huckleberry Finn decide to become pirates and sail off to the island on a raft. This escapade ends in their attending their own funeral, but it was wonderful while it lasted and its outcome hilarious.”
