“This book was written by request. Many bookshops and private persons told me that there was a great need for a really comprehensive book on how to tell fortunes with the Tarot, and why did I not write one? Well, this is it and I should think that it is likely to discourage readers from ever trying fortune telling unless they have a real gift or vocation for it; perhaps this is as well.
IN writing about the Tarot again I became deeply immersed in its symbols only to find that the entities of the Major Arcana seemed to want to express themselves with some force, so I allowed to pass through my pen the messages they appeared to impress upon me. I hope I have recorded them faithfully. They are very powerful and not in the best of humour about our present way of living – Richard Gardner.”
