"It all began with an avalanche. Old Jake Kroll was badly injured when his lonely cabin in the woods of the Tamanawos National Park was buried under the slide. Of his two big dogs - half husky, half timber wolf - only Kloshe, the good-natured one, was dug out. Cultus, his treacherous litter brother, could not be found and was presumed dead.
Jerry and Joe, sons of the Park wardens, were put in charge of Kloshe and lost no time in completing the dog's training in rescue work begun by Jake Kroll."
